Through 30 games with a record of 27-3, the 2024 Arkansas Razorback Baseball Team has the most wins in school history. Beginning in 1970, Razorback baseball has played 30 games each season with the sole exception being the COVID-shortened 2020 season.
No previous squad has won 27 of their first 30 games. The 1982 and 1989 squads both managed 26 wins, and through a rule which no longer exists, the 1982 squad only had two losses. Huh? They also had two ties. (3/8/1982 7-7 tie with Northwest Missouri St. and 3/26/1982 4-4 Tie with Rice in 11)

Despite finishing the season at 40-15-2, the 1982 Razorbacks did not make it into the 36 team NCAA Baseball Tournament field.
The 1989 squad tied for the Southwest Conference title with Texas A&M and was one of three conference teams to make the 48 team NCAA Baseball Tournament field. Sent all the way to Waterbury, Connecticut, Norm DeBriyn’s Razorback dropped the first game in the Northeast Regional before reeling off 4 straight wins for a trip to Omaha. Unfortunately Wichita State was too much at the College World Series and accounted for both Razorback losses. The team finished the season with a record of 51-16 and tied for 5th in the country.

As you may expect, it’s not how a team starts the year that matters. It’s how the team finishes. How did Arkansas’ College World Series Teams through their first 30 games? The average record was 22-8.
